Can I change the scroll speed and the text size?+
Yes, before a take and during one. Speed and text size both sit on the capture screen, so you can nudge them mid-read without stopping. Settings also holds a pace calibration: read one line out loud and Takewell sets the base speed to how you read.
Does the page scroll by itself?+
Yes. The teleprompter moves while you speak and holds when you pause, pacing itself from the level at the microphone.
It follows your voice rather than matching your words, so it cannot pull itself back if you drift a long way from the set speed. Put the base speed near your natural pace and it stays with you.
Can I use my own scripts?+
Write one in the library, paste one in, or import a .txt, .rtf or PDF from Files or the share sheet. Save it, then load it into the reader whenever you record.
Scripts stay on your device. With Pro they sync between your own iPhones through your private iCloud. Takewell keeps no copy and cannot read them.
Can I record without a script?+
Yes. Pick freestyle in the script selector and the teleprompter steps aside for a clean camera. The audio still runs through the enhancer.
Can I pause a take and pick it up again?+
Yes. Pause mid-take and resume when you are ready. Takewell writes one continuous file, so you have no clips to stitch.
What happens if a call interrupts a take?+
Takewell stops the recording and keeps what it captured up to that moment, so a long read does not vanish. Review the partial take, keep it, or record again.
Does it work in landscape?+
Yes. The reader, the capture screen, and the export all work in portrait and landscape, with the controls laid out for each.
Does it work with a beam-splitter rig?+
Yes. Settings carries separate mirror and upside-down toggles. Beam-splitter glass reverses whatever it shows, so the mirrored page comes back the right way round in the glass.
Can I add captions?+
Turn captions on for a take and Apple's on-device speech recognition transcribes it on your phone. Fix any word in the editor before it burns into the exported video.
You can also edit the captions on a take you kept earlier, straight from the library, with no re-transcription. Captions cost nothing on any tier.
What does Takewell do to the audio?+
It records the raw microphone signal alongside the video and leaves it untouched during the take. When you stop, a learned speech enhancer removes room noise and reverb, levels the result to a consistent peak-safe loudness, and puts the clean track back into the video file.
Every one of those steps runs on your iPhone.
Why does the export sound different from what I heard while recording?+
Because the enhancer runs after the take, not during it. You hear the room live. You get back the same take with the room taken out.
What does the enhancer handle well, and what does it not?+
It is strongest on steady, predictable problems: room tone, reverb and echo, and hums such as a fan or an air conditioner.
It is not built to separate two people talking at once, so a television or a nearby conversation can still come through. A hard transient like a door slam may also survive the clean-up.
Will it change how my voice sounds?+
The chain carries no hype EQ, no pumping compression, and no noise gate. Levelling is peak-safe, so the take gets louder without clipping. Your voice should sound like you, in a better room.
Can I compare the original with the enhanced take?+
Yes. The review screen plays both, so you hear the difference before you decide to keep, caption, or export.
Is my video or audio ever uploaded?+
No. Takewell records, enhances, captions, and stores every take on your device, and there is no server to upload one to. A take leaves the phone only when you save it to Photos or share it yourself.
What does the app send anywhere?+
Anonymous usage events: which screens you open and which actions you take, so we can see what to improve. They carry no video, no audio, no script text, and no identity, because the app has no account. We process them through PostHog.
They are on when you install the app, and Settings → Privacy switches them off. The only other data is the waitlist form on this website, if you choose to fill it in. Full detail sits in the privacy policy.
Do I need an account?+
No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. Your takes, scripts, and settings live on the phone.
What is the difference between free and Takewell Pro?+
Free takes run up to 60 seconds and carry a small Takewell wordmark when you export them. Every take gets the full enhancer either way, and captions and both libraries are free.
Takewell Pro lifts the length cap, drops the wordmark, and syncs your scripts between your own iPhones, for $14.99 a month or $79.99 a year. The annual plan opens with a 7-day free trial.
When does the free trial charge me?+
Apple charges the annual price when the 7-day trial ends. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and nothing is charged. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during it.
How do I cancel?+
Takewell Pro uses Apple's subscription system, so there is no separate billing portal. Cancel in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions → Takewell.
I subscribed, but Pro is not unlocked.+
Open the paywall in Takewell and tap Restore Purchases. That re-reads your Apple Account's purchase history and unlocks Pro on the device. If it still does not unlock, email support@srstech.in and tell us which Apple Account email you bought with. Never send anyone your password.
