Posture apps do three different jobs. Some measure your posture from photos, some buzz when you slouch, and some hand you a library of stretches. Postural does the first and builds a routine from it. This page sets out which kind suits which goal, and where other apps do better than Postural.
iPhone · iOS 18+ · Free scans
We make Postural, so this is the maker's view. Each competitor row comes from its App Store listing and its recent reviews, read on 30 October 2026, and links to the source. Postural is a wellness app, not a medical device.

App by app
A photo scan with a written report, a pack of five scans for people who don't want a subscription, and a practitioner mode.
What reviewers report. Being asked to pay at the last step: “hooks you to the payment page just before showing the report” (App Store reviewer, September 2026, listing).
Where it beats Postural. A lower yearly price, a one-off scan pack, and many more ratings.
Where Postural fits. The scan, your Postural Age and the coach note are free, with no limit on scans.
A new photo scan whose listing says the photos never leave the phone, no account is needed, and scanning is free. It captures the front and both sides.
What reviewers report. Nothing yet. It has no reviews.
Where it beats Postural. A lower price, no account, and a third view.
Where Postural fits. Much the same privacy stance. Postural adds a Day-28 before-and-after, and in Pro a routine built from your scan with spoken cues.
UpWise scans front, side and back. APECS and PostureScreen are built for clinicians, with reports and more views, and APECS keeps its core features free.
What reviewers report. UpWise: “Hilariously expensive subscription” (App Store reviewer, April 2026, listing).
Where they beat Postural. More camera views and clinician reports. APECS has a free core and an Android version.
Where Postural fits. It is for people tracking their own posture, not for clinicians. It scores two markers, shows three more without scoring them, and says what a 2D photo cannot see.
Real-time alerts. Align and Posture Pal use AirPods to notice when your head drops. UPRIGHT GO 2 is a sensor stuck to your back that buzzes.
What reviewers report. UPRIGHT: “Without an account, the app doesn't work” (App Store reviewer, January 2026, listing).
Where they beat Postural. They catch you slouching while you work. Postural cannot, and the UPRIGHT device works with Android too.
Where Postural fits. It needs only your iPhone and a book or box to stand it against.
Exercise libraries. Bend and Perfect Posture are low-cost stretching apps. pliability is a large mobility video library at $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year.
What reviewers report. Bend: “doesn't speak out instructions” (App Store reviewer, May 2026, listing). pliability: refund and billing complaints (listing).
Where they beat Postural. Far bigger libraries, Android versions, and lower prices for Bend and Perfect Posture.
Where Postural fits. Its Pro routine picks from 28 movements based on your own scan, with spoken cues and a timer through every hold and rep.

Questions
It depends on the job. To measure your posture and track it over weeks, use a photo scan such as Postural, Posture AI or Stoop. To be nudged while you work, use an alert app such as Align, Posture Pal or UPRIGHT GO 2. For stretches alone, Bend or pliability.
Within limits. A photo is 2D, so it cannot see depth or rotation, and lighting and clothing shift the reading. Postural takes the median of 12 frames per view and treats the number as a trend over weeks rather than a verdict on one day.
In Postural, yes. Scans, your Postural Age and the coach note are free, with no limit on scans. Stoop's listing also says scanning is free. Reviewers of Posture AI report the paywall comes before the report.
Postural measures and stores your photos on the phone, keeps them out of iCloud backup, and never uploads them. Stoop and APECS make the same promise on their listings.
Photo scans and exercise apps. Postural needs only your iPhone and something to stand it against, such as a book or a box.
If you want a routine aimed at your own posture, Postural builds one from your scan. If you want a large mobility video library, pliability is the stronger choice and Bend is the cheaper one.
