Perch for Mac and iPhone  ·  Last updated 6 September 2026

The short version

Perch reads your Wi-Fi and names a channel to try. It cannot tell whose network that is, so you tell it, by pointing it only at networks you administer. Nothing in either app is for sale yet. Everything below forms part of the agreement.

Point Where it stands
What it is A Wi-Fi diagnostic for Mac and iPhone. A measurement and a recommendation, not a guarantee.
Network authorisation You confirm you administer the network you point Perch at. Perch has no way to check.
The two apps Apple's own licence covers the iPhone app. Our licence covers the Developer ID Mac agent.
Perch Pro Planned as a subscription and, separately, a one-time purchase. Neither is on sale yet.
Lifetime upgrades Undecided. Stated at the point of sale, before a purchase is possible.
Refunds Apple will handle them under its own policy, once Pro exists to refund.
01

Agreement

These Terms of Use govern Perch: the Perch app for iPhone and the Perch agent for Mac, developed and published by Rahul Kumar Gupta, trading as SRS Tech ("we", "our", or "us"), of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Using either app means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the apps.

02

Licence: two binaries, two licences, one entitlement

Perch ships as two separate pieces of software, under two separate licences.

  • The iPhone app is distributed on the App Store and is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where these terms say less than Apple's agreement, Apple's applies.
  • The Mac agent is distributed outside the App Store, signed with a Developer ID, and is governed by our own licence: a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to run it on Macs you own or control. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, modify, or reverse engineer it, except where law gives you that right regardless of what this document says.

Perch Pro, once it exists, is a single entitlement that spans both pieces of software, expressed under whichever of the two licences applies to the app you are using at the time.

03

Network authorisation

Perch scans the network it is pointed at. It cannot verify who owns that network: physical access to the Mac proves control of the machine, not authority over the network the machine happens to be joined to. A café, an office, a neighbour's Wi-Fi, and your own home network all look the same to it.

By using Perch, you confirm that you administer the network you run it on, whether through ownership, running the household, or authority granted by whoever does. Operating Perch on a network you do not administer may be unlawful, and responsibility for that choice rests with you.

04

What a verdict is, and is not

A verdict is a measurement and a recommendation, not a guarantee. Perch reads the contention, signal, and latency it can see at the moment it looks, and names the channel most likely to help.

Changing channel may not fix your Wi-Fi. The fault can sit with your internet provider, your router's firmware, a wall between you and the access point, or a device Perch cannot see. Treat a verdict as a reading to act on, not a promise of the outcome.

05

No warranty

Perch is provided as is. We do not promise it runs without interruption or error.

Wi-Fi is a live, shared medium, and no two runs land the same. Neighbouring networks contend for the same airtime, an internet connection's quality shifts through the day, and a reading taken now can differ from one taken minutes later on the identical network. We make no promise about the accuracy of any single reading.

06

Perch Pro, payment, and renewal

Both apps are free to use. The verdict, the channel recommendation, the device list, and the core checks cost nothing.

Perch Pro is planned as a paid tier, offered as an auto-renewing subscription and, separately, as a one-time purchase. Neither is available today: the purchase path is not built, and nothing in Perch can be bought right now.

When Pro ships, buying it will run through Apple's App Store on the iPhone app, and Apple will charge your Apple Account for the purchase. A subscription will renew at the then-current price unless you cancel it in your Apple Account settings before the current period ends. Apple will process every purchase and handle every refund under its own policy; we will not be able to issue refunds ourselves.

07

Lifetime purchases and future major versions

Where Perch Pro is offered as a one-time purchase, whether that purchase carries forward into a future major version of either app is not yet decided.

That policy will be stated plainly at the point of sale, before you are able to buy anything, so you know exactly what a one-time purchase covers before you pay for it. This page will be updated to reflect the policy once it is set, and no purchase will happen ahead of that disclosure.

08

Acceptable use

Perch does not send 802.11 deauthentication frames, does not intercept or forward the traffic on your network, does not crack or guess credentials, and has no way to remove a device from a network. Do not use Perch, and do not attempt to modify it, to do any of those things.

Do not use Perch to break the law, to scan or test a network or device that is not yours to test, or to reach data that is not yours.

09

Privacy

The Privacy Policy describes what each app collects and what stays on your own network. It forms part of these terms.

10

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, SRS Tech is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of Perch, including loss arising from an action you take, on your own network, based on a verdict Perch gives you.

Nothing here removes liability that cannot be removed by law, and some places do not allow these limits, in which case they do not apply to you.

11

Termination

These terms run until you or we end them. They end on their own if you breach them, and you can end them at any time by deleting both apps.

Ending them does not refund a purchase and does not cancel a subscription, where either exists. Cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.

12

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the apps change, and in particular once Perch Pro ships. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and using the apps after an update means you accept it.

13

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Where the consumer law of your own country gives you rights this document does not, or lets you bring a claim in your local courts, those rights stand. Nothing here removes them.
